PhD Project: Towards a sustainable eating behaviour: what is the role of psychological and cognitive components?
My thesis explores the complex interplay between psychological and cognitive factors and the adoption of eco-sustainable dietary habits. Specifically, it examines how impulsivity, personality dimensions, empathy, and social desirability influence individuals' food choices and their likelihood of transitioning to or maintaining sustainable eating patterns. Eco-sustainable diets, which prioritise plant-based foods and minimise reliance on resource-intensive animal products, have significant environmental and health benefits. However, the motivations and barriers to adopting such diets are multifaceted, involving both intrinsic psychological factors and extrinsic social pressures and this project aims to investigate for a better understanding.

University of Porto - Laboratory of Neuropsychophysiology - Portugal
During the 3rd year of my PhD, I spent six months (8th May - 10th November 2024) abroad for my visiting period at the University of Porto, Laboratory of Neuropsychophysiology of the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences, Porto, Portugal. This visiting period was focused on developing both theoretical and practical expertise in Electroencephalography (EEG) and Event-Related Potentials (ERP). My work involved setting up and calibrating EEG equipment, designing and conducting experiments to evoke specific ERP components, and applying data pre-processing techniques such as filtering and artefact rejection. Additionally, I gained experience in analysing EEG signals using specialised software (e.g., MATLAB) and interpreting the results. This experience enhanced my skills in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific collaboration, providing me with a comprehensive understanding of EEG/ERP research methodologies.
