Projects Extraction and characterization of amniotic fluid-derived extracellular vesicles in normal and preeclamptic pregnancies Articles Extracellular Vesicles, Apoptotic Bodies, and Mitochondria: Stem Cell Bioproducts for Organ Regeneration Abstracts Extracellular vesicles are cell released small signaling molecules (50nm-150nm) involved in cell-cell communication. They actively transfer biomaterial (miRNA, mRNA, proteins, and lipids) to target cells. Many cell types within the amniotic fluid stay metabolically active and secrete bio-factors such as VEGF, endoglin, PGF-1, and EVs; those in turn affect the physiology of pregnancy and can cause multiple pathologies such as preeclampsia. This study aims to fully characterize and test the bio function of amniotic fluid-derived EVs from normal and preeclamptic pregnancies.
